About the Project

Mileage-Based User Fee Alliance (MBUFA) is a national non-profit organization that brings together government, business, academic, and transportation policy leaders to conduct education and outreach on the potential for mileage-based user fees as an alternative for future funding and improved performance of the U.S. transportation system.

MOYA Creative partnered with MBUFA to design and develop a dynamic website that would help convey their message and vision.

To deliver the best possible design, the team conducted market research to understand the websites of similar organizations. In collaboration with the client, FORMA created the final website sitemap and worked on three design concepts for MBUFA to choose from to define the look and feel of the overall website.

We approached the website creating a cohesive visual language to convey a unified brand image could resonate with users and help them recognize and remember the brand more easily.

Designer Insights

A simple but powerful color palette is used to highlight content throughout the website. Interactive elements – such as maps – were integrated into the design to help with audience engagement.

About the Project

In the wake of nationwide protests following George Floyd’s tragic death at the hands of police in 2020, the DC Government took a bold step by designating a prominent section of 16th Street NW directly facing the White House as “Black Lives Matter Plaza.” This powerful act of solidarity transformed an ordinary street into a living monument to the ongoing struggle for racial justice in America.

MOYA was honored to be selected by the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) and DC Government to develop comprehensive branding for this historically significant public space. Our team understood the profound responsibility of creating visual elements worthy of the movement’s importance and the plaza’s symbolic power.

Working collaboratively with community leaders and key stakeholders, we crafted a series of striking street pole banners and environmental graphics that capture the essence of the Black Lives Matter movement. Our design approach balanced bold, attention-commanding visuals with thoughtful symbolism—using deliberate typography, strategic color choices, and powerful imagery to convey messages of resilience, unity, and the ongoing pursuit of justice.

The resulting installation doesn’t merely decorate the space—it activates it, creating a visual narrative that honors those lost to police violence while inspiring hope and continued activism. Our branding elements serve as both a memorial and a call to action, ensuring that Black Lives Matter Plaza remains not only a physical location but a meaningful space for reflection, demonstration, and change.

Through this project, we demonstrated our commitment to using design as a tool for social impact, creating visual expressions that amplify marginalized voices and contribute to important conversations about equality and justice in our nation’s capital.

Project recognitions

FORMA received a gold award in the publication category from the MUSE Creative Awards for the 2020 annual report.

About the Project

20 Degrees is a non-profit organization that is changing the culture of philanthropy. Through their customized solutions, they help their clients (e.g., social enterprises, early childhood education spaces) build financial resilience, and become more self-sufficient and less reliant on charitable funds year after year.

FORMA partnered with 20 Degrees for a complete refresh of their brand identity and a new website design.

Forms and colors relating to skipping stones in water were part of the new brand design, as “twenty degrees” is the perfect angle for a rock to hit the water to skip the furthest and soar to its potential. This represents 20 Degrees’ vision for helping their clients reach their full potential in organizational excellence.

The brand refresh included a new logo design, full website design, corporate video production materials, and a brand book. Stone and water textures were interspersed across all collateral to give a uniform and cohesive brand look.

The website

As part of the brand update, the website also underwent a reorganization to its website map to make it easier for readers to find relevant content. Key information about the organization was centralized on the home page, such as brand updates, contact information, and a narrative detailing 20 Degrees’ history and its impact.

About the Project

DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) is a private non-profit organization that provides capital improvements, resources, and research to enhance the downtown experience of the District for all.

The BID developed a ten-year, long-range plan, “Vision for the Future” that identifies challenges and opportunities for downtown’s economic prominence. As the BID’s visual design partner, MOYA Creative helped shape the marketing communications for this bold plan.

We developed the editorial design of the Vision 2027 report and website for this campaign, with custom illustrations integrated across both platforms. These distinctive and vivid illustrations were inspired by the plan’s initiatives: transportation, economy, public realm, and human services.

Building on Vision 2027’s themes of sustainability, resiliency, efficiency, and innovation, the report and website design evokes plenty of healthy green space with a diversity of people and placemaking.

Designer Insights

The illustrations for the report and web page allow the reader to envision lights turning on and off, concert lights moving up and down, and cyclists passing by — all the vibrant movements of a healthy, dynamic downtown.
