Project Details

Moya Design Partners is leading the interior design for Bluewood by Arcola, a new multifamily affordable housing community in Loudoun County, Virginia. Located on the historic grounds of the former Arcola School, the project builds on the site’s legacy as a neighborhood anchor while welcoming a new generation of residents and shaping its future as a community-centered place to live.

In collaboration with Wellington Development, MOYA’s approach balances historic preservation with contemporary community needs and sustainable design goals. The interior design emphasizes warmth, stability, and inclusivity, creating a residential experience rooted in connection and belonging while supporting long-term durability and daily use.

The interior design scope includes both the renovation of the former school building and a new construction residential building. Shared amenities feature a lobby, auditorium with kitchenette and stage, community room, meeting and conference spaces, leasing and 

office areas, mail and storage rooms, kids and teens rooms, game room, gym, yoga room, wellness suite, and therapy and telehealth spaces. Together, these environments support wellness, learning, and social connection across all age groups.

Beyond interior design, MOYA Creative also provides complementary services including naming, brand identity, environmental graphics, wayfinding and signage, and a project landing page. These creative services reinforce a cohesive visual language, while select historic elements such as original school blackboards are being integrated into the interiors to honor the site’s history and create meaningful design moments throughout the Bluewood by Arcola community.

Moya Design Partners developed a comprehensive interior renovation and reorganization of the Petworth Neighborhood Library to better support current and future community needs, with a particular focus on youth services, functionality, accessibility, human-centered design, and design excellenceThe selective demolition and reconfiguration relocated the Teen area to the second floor and the Adult Services to the first floor to maximize community impact. MOYA’s interior design scope included interior wall repairs and treatments, the installation of new inspirational environmental graphics and wayfinding signage, and the replacement of flooring, furniture and fixtures, and historic windowsTo optimize building performance, the MEP renovation scope included installation of additional water fountains and upgrades to power, data, acoustics, and audiovisual systems, as well as targeted upgrades to HVAC systems, including the Library’s Building Automation System.

Moya Design Partners is developing the interior design for Haven by Agape, a 101-unit multifamily affordable housing community for senior living in Chantilly, Virginia. Led by Wellington Development Partners and Agape Property Management, LLC, the project supports active adult and senior living while also offering adult daycare services for residents in the DMV Region.

MOYA’s scope includes the interior design of the building’s common areas, from early research and programming through design development and construction administration, along with furniture design for approximately 4,514 square feet of interior spaces and 3,000 square feet of exterior FF&E. The design applies inclusive design principles to create environments that are welcoming, functional, and built for long-term use.

The interior design encompasses the main lobby and vestibule, leasing offices, mail and package rooms, a community room, and a business center/library, as well as residential corridors and unit entries. These spaces emphasize durability, clarity, and a cohesive visual identity, resulting in elevated and dignified environments within an affordable housing and senior living community.

Beyond interior design, MOYA Creative also provides complementary services including naming, brand identity, environmental graphics, and wayfinding and signage, supporting a consistent experience throughout the project.

We developed the complete brand identity for Haven by Agape, including naming, visual system, signage, and printed materials. The goal was to create a brand that feels calm, refined, and human — expressing a sense of care that goes beyond service to become a genuine way of living.

The creative direction draws from Virginia’s cultural landscape and Agape’s philosophy of selfless love. Influences from Asian design traditions bring structure and balance, while a soft color palette and thoughtful typography reflect warmth and trust. Together, these elements convey an atmosphere of quiet confidence and emotional depth.
Across every touchpoint, Haven by Agape speaks with grace and empathy — inviting residents to see this new chapter not as a transition, but as a continuation of a meaningful life, surrounded by comfort, beauty, and belonging.

We are leading the development of a comprehensive brand strategy for Bluewood — including naming, visual identity, signage, printed collateral, and digital presence. The goal is to create a brand that embodies balance, connection, and belonging — the essence of its tagline, Life in Harmony.

Our creative process began with an exploration of Arcola’s history and character. From these roots, we’re shaping a narrative that honors the past while looking ahead. The name Bluewood evokes nature, calm, and continuity — aligning with the community’s design philosophy and its commitment to creating spaces where life flows naturally.

This idea of harmony will carry through every touchpoint. The website, marketing materials, and on-site communications are being designed to reflect a warm, grounded, and inclusive tone — creating a cohesive experience that connects residents to the spirit of the place.

Bluewood by Arcola honors where it began and welcomes what’s next — a community built in balance, where life moves in harmony.

About the Project

Moya Design Partners partnered with the District of Columbia Building Industry Association (DCBIA), one of the region’s most influential organizations representing over 500 members in business, construction, and architecture. Our collaboration focused on rebranding, graphic design, event advertising, and multimedia production to strengthen DCBIA’s identity and elevate its member engagement. 

We began with the creation of a new DCBIA logo and visual identity system, giving the association a modern, professional brand that could be applied consistently across print, digital, and environmental applications. This refreshed identity was rolled out through collateral design, including stationery, business cards, envelopes, and branded templates, ensuring a unified look for all communications. 

Our work extended into event design and advertising campaigns, supporting DCBIA’s annual programming and signature initiatives such as Community Improvement Day. We developed posters, signage, and digital graphics to amplify visibility and reinforce the association’s role in community building. 

For the 34th Annual Achievement Awards Gala, MOYA created a comprehensive event identity. We designed custom graphics for each award category, united by a multilayered, multidimensional symbol rendered in vibrant colors to highlight both individuality and interconnectedness. To bring the awards to life, our team produced motion graphic videos, digital content, and stage visuals, ensuring a memorable experience for attendees. 

Through this integrated effort, MOYA delivered a brand system, event design and multimedia production strategy that expanded DCBIA’s presence, engaged members, and elevated its high-profile events.

Project Details

The Inspired Teaching Demonstration School (ITDS), located at 200 Douglas St. NE in Washington, D.C., underwent a major ground-floor renovation designed and delivered by Moya Design Partners. Completed in May 2025, the 13,270-square-foot Design-Build project modernized classrooms, flexible learning areas, and support spaces while maintaining the building’s LEED Gold certification. 

The project scope expanded beyond the original 9,880 square feet to include upgrades to 789 square feet of storage rooms and 2,598 square feet of HVAC renovations. The $3 million investment also introduced new AV/IT infrastructure and energy-efficient systems, reinforcing the school’s commitment to sustainability and 21st-century learning. 

Sustainability played a central role in the renovation. The use of eco-friendly materials, improved HVAC systems, and high-performance energy solutions enhanced the building’s operational efficiency while aligning with ITDS’s environmental goals. These upgrades ensure that the school continues to serve as a model for environmentally responsible educational spaces. 

The completed renovation provides ITDS with modern, student-centered facilities that nurture creativity, collaboration, and academic growth. Through careful coordination and the Design-Build approach, MOYA delivered a project that strengthens ITDS’s mission while preparing the community for the future.

Project Details

Developed by Moya Design Partners, Sojourner is a marine interiors concept designed for cruise environments, offering compact and efficient cabins tailored to the needs of solo travelers. The concept explores how careful spatial planning and material selection can support privacy, comfort, and independence at sea.

The collection includes three cabin typologies — interior, oceanview, and balcony — each designed with a neutral finish palette, warm wood accents, and medium bronze detailing. Layered lighting options and custom millwork contribute to a sense of comfort and flexibility in a compact footprint. Each unit includes a three-quarters XL bed, single-seat lounger, and a desk that doubles as a vanity. Integrated storage includes open shelving, concealed compartments, a mini-fridge, and a safe.

Bathrooms are light and efficient, featuring rainfall showers and marine-grade finishes that are both durable and refined. All cabins are equipped with a digital tablet to control lighting, climate, and in-room entertainment — aligning with evolving guest expectations in modern cruise design.

Sojourner responds to the rising demand for solo travel experiences within the cruise industry. The project reflects MOYA’s broader approach to interior design — balancing aesthetics and usability across diverse hospitality and transportation environments. Designed from MOYA’s Washington, DC studio, the concept supports future-forward solutions for Cruise Lines and Marine Architecture Partners worldwide.

Following the successful launch of the ‘Unlocking Inclusion’ exhibit at San Diego’s Special Olympics UCS Conference in February 2019, Special Olympics and MOYA unveiled an expanded version of the exhibit at the prestigious SXSW® EDU Conference in Austin, TX. Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools promotes sports and leadership opportunities for students with and without intellectual disabilities. The program is designed to be woven into the fabric of participating schools, creating a socially inclusive environment that supports and engages all learners.

The South by Southwest® (SXSW) EDU Conference “cultivates and empowers a community of engaged stakeholders to advance teaching and learning.” The ninth annual conference, held in March 2019, included four days of workshops, panels, discussions, networking, and more. Located in Bay 40 of the SXSW EDU expo, ‘Unlocking Inclusion’ included interactive narratives, dynamic textures, colorful LED lights, and audiovisual media to attract educators from around the globe into the comprehensive Special Olympics UCS campaign narrative.

The exhibit’s concept, structure, content, LED look, and the Unified Generation Tribune exhibit guide promoting diversity and inclusion in schools. Our design team was honored to work with Special Olympics to help attendees experience and learn about the benefits of Special Olympics’ inclusive UCS program.

Ocean + Collins is an exclusive 18+ enclave that combines the sophistication of fine dining with the relaxed charm of a luxury beach club. Located at the aft of a stunning vessel, it offers adult guests the perfect setting to savor world-class cuisine, enjoy a refreshing cocktail at the poolside bar, swim in the infinity pool, or simply unwind while admiring the ever-changing ocean views.

For this project, we crafted a comprehensive brand and marketing strategy designed to capture the venue’s unique essence — the seamless blend of gourmet dining and a vibrant beach club atmosphere. This fusion makes Ocean + Collins a true sanctuary for travelers seeking a one-of-a-kind culinary experience on the open seas.

The name Ocean + Collins was carefully selected to reflect both maritime excellence and culinary distinction. Its brand mark features a stylized fish, a symbolic representation of the oceanic spirit and a direct link to the restaurant’s identity.

To convey a sense of refinement, the visual identity incorporates elegant serif typography, evoking a timeless, classic aesthetic. This choice reinforces the restaurant’s dedication to delivering an experience that is not only memorable and delicious, but also rooted in the values of quality, sophistication, and the artistry of seafood cuisine.

The brand’s color palette reflects the vibrant spirit of the ocean and the culinary world, creating a visually appetizing expression of our seafood experience.
