The Urban Village Apartments project is a multi-unit residential development located at the corner of 16th Street NW and Meridian Place in Washington DC. This development seeks to revitalize and enhance the commercial corridor near Piney Branch Park with 295 new residential units, and 73 parking spaces.
The project is structured around two “podium” style buildings, separated by a vertical firewall. These structures are connected by a three-story bridge, designed to allow truck access and utility maintenance. The design currently spans two zoning areas, RA-2 and RA-4.
The RA-4 zone, along 16th Street NW, houses a seven-story structure. This building comprises two stories of Type 1A concrete frame at the base, with five floors of Type IIIA wood-framed construction above. The second zoning area, facing Meridian Place, is the site of a six-story building designed with a concrete base topped with five stories of wood-framed construction.
