University of the District of Columbia’s New Student Center Interiors

Located at the University of the District of Columbia’s (UDC) Van Ness campus, the New Student Center was a joint effort with Cannon Design. Our goals for this $63 million building were to integrate LEED elements while improving the urban landscape. The UDC Student Center is the gateway to campus. It welcomes students and visitors with a new public square and clock tower along Connecticut Avenue. With this new public face, UDC branded itself as a 21st-century institution.

The fresh design of the New Student Center creates a hub for students and the public. It offers mixed-use amenities such as a welcome center, ballroom, student council offices, and activity spaces for students to relax and socialize. On-site restaurants cater to the diverse needs of residential students and commuters, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty, staff, and visitors.
