We are currently undertaking a $14.3 million expansion project at Deal Middle School in DC’s Ward 3. The endeavor involves the addition of 12 advanced classrooms, two science labs, an extended dining area, administration spaces, and other essential facilities spread across three levels, all while preserving the nearly 120-year-old historic character of the school.
Central to the design is a courtyard that functions as a unifying element between existing structures. Surrounding this courtyard, various gathering spaces are planned to encourage interaction and non-traditional learning. Emphasizing sustainability, the project pursues LEED BD+C v4 Gold, integrating features like bioswales for ecological responsibility. The project is set for completion in 2024.
