WASHINGTON, D.C. – In early April, a project update was released detailing construction on Audi Field in the nation’s capital. This stadium will play home to the Major League Soccer’s D.C. United team, and will serve as a beacon for professional sports and community engagement in the D.C. metro region with an innovative, state-of-the-art facility.
In fact, DC United’s Director of Media and Communications Lindsay Simpson recently stated “the construction of the 20,000-capacity stadium will not only provide a catalyst for economic growth in the area, but will make the southwest D.C. location a prime destination for sports and leisure.”
Paola Moya initiated her former firm’s role in this project during her tenure as CEO. For this project, the design firm partnered with globally recognized architecture powerhouse Populous to serve as Associate Architect.
The stadium measures 500,000 total square feet and includes mixed-use retail to accompany residential space, and will finally provide a permanent home for the beloved United team.
Noted in the project update for the half-billion-dollar facility, is a July 14, 2018 inaugural game against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
