About the Project

Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District (MVT CID) is situated in a mixed-used downtown neighborhood that reflects DC’s unique array of historic and modern buildings, and offers a variety of restaurants, amenities, and experiences. The MVT CID was established to enhance the overall quality of life for those who live, work, or visit this community.

In 2020, they needed a refresh of ther branding so that the diversity and liveliness of this area would be highlighted to visitors and residents alike. MOYA was up to this challenge and transformed branding elements to reflect the vibrancy of MVT CID.

The design concept was inspired by origami, with graphics mirroring the patterns of this folding technique. To build MVT CID brand equity, the colors selected for the graphics were the same bright colors used in its existing brand logo: red, green, orange, and purple.

Designer Insights

These bold and festive designs are showcased in several places throughout the neighborhood, including streetlight banners, exteriors of office and storefronts, and on the MVT CID’s Clean and Safe Team’s pick-up truck.
