Project Details
The LEED Platinum-certified building features eco-friendly elements like a rain garden, bio-retention facilities, photovoltaic panels, and geothermal systems for energy efficiency. A 20,000-square-foot green roof supports urban agriculture and stormwater management, showcasing UDC’s dedication to sustainability.
Inside, the center offers a welcoming area, a ballroom, student council offices, and communal spaces for socializing. On-site restaurants add convenience for students, faculty, and the public.
Designed by Paola Moya at Marshall Moya Design in collaboration with CannonDesign, the project has won multiple awards, including the 2016 ENR Mid-Atlantic Award of Merit and the 2018 Brick in Architecture Award. The UDC Student Center is a model of sustainable urban development and campus enhancement.
